Question - Kayaking to Capt Cook

We received this question by email:

I ‘m planning a trip too big island this August and I want to rent a triple kayak for me, my wife and my daughter.  We want to get to Captain Cook Monument .

As we are coming from France , I try to rent it online. May you confirm that the “konaboys” is a good way and may you explain to me the way to follow to reserve on line for the 5th August.

And my last question is, as we have a rental car, how can we bring the kayak to the beach and which beach?  I hope that you ‘ll give me an answer , thanks for your help and sorry if my English is not very good and i hope you are understanding my questions…

Best regards,

Stephane

Answer:

Stephane, A large tandem sit-on top kayak such as the Malibu Two XL will fit you, your wife, and daughter (if your daughter is a child…)  Kona Boys is a good company.  Check out the online reservations with our kayak partners here: http://www.hawaiiactivities.com/us/hawaii/bigisland/sg/1127/ag/15763/

Regardless of which Kayak provider you choose to rent your kayaks from, they will provide you “foam blocks” to put on the roof of your car that will function as a soft-rack.  This will give you a safe and reliable way to transport your kayak on the roof of your car.  For Captain Cook, you will begin at the wharf at Kealakekua Bay.  Check out our Captain Cook Kayaking page for more details.
