Kamakahonu Beach at the King Kam Hotel

The “King Kam” beach is a popular spot for visitors and locals alike. This beach is conveniently tucked away between the Kailua pier and the King Kamehameha hotel right on Alii Drive.

The gentle wave action here has earned Kamakahonu the name “Kids’ Beach” among the locals. This beach is a must-visit for any vacationing family with small children. Kamakahonu has much to offer to its more mature visitors as well. The surf is calm so this is a great beach for children. This is also a popular spot for SNUBA, dive instruction, and swimming. The onsite Beach Shack rents out snorkeling gear, Hobie Cats, and kayaks, all at reasonable prices. The sand is white, the trees are shady, and the snorkeling is good - especially outside on the cove. Start off right on the beach; swim out and around the pier and Heiau to get outside of this small cove. At that point you will be snorkeling out in Kailua Bay and enjoying the clear waters with plentiful sea life. Enjoy the abundance of fish and corals!
