Kuki'o
Beach is another pretty Kohala beach located just north of
Kikaua Point, accessible at the Hualalai, Four
Seasons Resort. This long crescent of white sand is surrounded by
shady palm, ironwood, and kiawe trees.
The white sand stretches into the
distance
across to the next cove. There is a
band of lava rocks forming a narrow breakwater in the shallow water.
If you want to swim or snorkel, you will need to walk towards the south
end of the beach where there is an opening in the rocks.
You
can actually walk several hundred yards from the south end of
this beach right over to Kikaua Point Beach, they
are so close together. Kuki'o Beach is located in a cove
that allows snorkelers access to coral, and reef fish. Facilities include bathrooms,
showers, and water fountain. The path from the parking lot to the
beach is paved. This
beach is baby stroller accessible.
There
are a number of green sea turtles that swim in these waters and
climb up onto the beach to bask in the sun. Please do not disturb
the turtles - do not get closer than 20-feet of them! Check out
our Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles
section.
